I am a designer, artist and small press publisher. I have been designing for the web for many years. My daily mission is to create a web that is humane, that is crafted ethically, that is available to all visitors regardless of ability, and that is built with open source technologies.
I am creative director at Mangrove Web, a digital agency that designs and builds joyful, accessible sites for organizations in the social sector.
Previously, I was founder of Manoverboard, a purpose-driven studio with a mission of creating a better world by design. Manoverboard designed hundreds of websites and visual identities.
I have also done many other things besides design
Four years ago, I founded, along with other agencies, a scholarship program for design students of color called the MB Studio Fund. I regularly mentor design students and serve as a judge in competitions. I taught design studio, design history, theory and management at the School of Art at the University of Manitoba and at Red River College in Winnipeg.

Oh, I also run a small, nascent Riso-powered press, creating and publishing my own and other artists books in collaboration with others. My research interests include the history of Jewish visual culture, as well as the strange and strained relationship between design and belief.
What else? An early Internet writer, my blog at Deckchairs from 2001 to 2011 somehow still stands. I created one of the more popular Lorem Ipsum text websites called Lorem 2. Along with other web sustainability folks, I created Serving.Green, an example of a media rich website with a small carbon footprint. I also run TypeQuote, a site featuring a daily inspirational quote. Here is my curriculum vitæ in HTML
